Fortifire is able to provide an inspection and testing service for your Emergency Showers and Eyewash Stations to ensure they are operational when needed and meet the relevant standards.

Employers have an obligation to ensure that if the eyes or body of any person could come in contact with any substance that could cause injury, such as corrosive chemicals and the like, a way of quickly drenching or flushing eyes and body must be provided within the immediate work area.
Australian Standard AS 4775:2007 defines the minimum requirements for this type of equipment and stipulates how the equipment is to be checked and maintained.

If your emergency eyewash and shower equipment is not properly maintained, the cosequences are likely to be very serious. It could also mean your comapany has breached OH&S obligations, and penalties may be applied.

Chemical splashes and spills have the potential to seriously maim and disfigure. Emergency eyewash and shower equipment provides the first line of defence to help reduce injury.

These important safety devices are often left unused and untested and do not work properly when required.

Even in situations where site management has arranged for site staff to perform weekly or monthly checks, we often find equipment does not meet the minimum standards.

The two images at left are actual examples we have found where site personnel are supposed to be responsible for performing the maintenance.

General corrosion, worn and damaged parts are often associated with diverse commercial environments. Parts become blocked, seize or damaged as a result of various problems ranging from harsh water supplies, dirt or insect contamination, internal and external corrosion from site processes, and most unfortunately as a result of neglect, abuse or misuse.

Fortifire's emergency shower and eyewash service compliments the six monthly and annual fire safety equipment inspections because we can perform these works while we are already on site.

We can easily add the service to your annual fire equipment inspection schedule or the service can be provided as "Stand Alone".

Fortifire recommends your emergency shower and eyewash equipment be maintained to Australian Standard AS 4775:2007 ‘Emergency eyewash and shower equipment’.  Regular inspection, testing and preventative maintenance will help keep your equipment ready to operate when needed.

Fortifire's comprehensive annual inspection and test service includes but but is not limited to:
